Join us for the inaugural Avondale Spotlight Awards, an evening dedicated to celebrating the businesses, organizations, and people who make Avondale one of Chicago's most vibrant neighborhoods.

Whether you've lived here for years, recently discovered the neighborhood, or simply have a favorite local spot, this event is about recognizing the places that make Avondale feel like home. Throughout the evening, we'll present awards honoring everything from neighborhood institutions and hidden gems to community builders and the businesses that define Avondale's unique character.

The Avondale Spotlight Awards are a collaborative effort between the Avondale Neighborhood Association, North Branch Works, and Second City Gaming, created to recognize the incredible small businesses that invest in our community every day. We're also excited to use this event as a launching point for the future Avondale Chamber of Commerce, helping build stronger connections among local businesses for years to come.

You'll enjoy a thoughtfully curated lineup featuring white, orange, rosé, and red wines, while learning about each bottle, the wineries behind them, and what makes natural wines so special.

If you've been curious about natural wine but have been hesitant because you've heard they're all "funky," this tasting is for you. These wines were selected to showcase just how approachable, balanced, and expressive natural wine can be—without leaning into the stereotypes.

We're hosting our Introduction to Mahjong - American style - which incorporates unique elements such as jokers and the official 2026 NMJL card. This version of the game has evolved to include new tiles and rules, making it a distinct and popular variation enjoyed across the United States. If you've only ever seen the traditional versions, this is a great opportunity to explore the American adaptation of the game.

No experience necessary. Tile sets and racks provided. We will have NMJL cards to utilize during the lesson but you are free to bring your own.

We're partnering with Chuchaqui to bring you Primo & Patio Pounders, a cocktail workshop designed for anyone who loves a great drink and wants to learn how to recreate bar-quality cocktails at home.

Your ticket includes a welcome cocktail upon arrival, so you can settle in, sip, and get inspired before diving into the class.

Together, we'll explore:

• How to make and use infused syrups to elevate your home cocktails

• The fundamentals of equal-parts cocktails and why they're some of the easiest (and most delicious) recipes to master

• An introduction to the spirits featured in class, including tequila, mezcal, and Primo Aperitivo

• Tips, techniques, and flavor combinations you can confidently recreate all summer long

Paint & Sip: Let them eat cake!

We're bringing back one of our favorite things—getting creative around the table. Join us for an afternoon of cake decorating at Moody's Market, where each guest will receive a fully baked and filled 6" cake prepared by our Pastry Chef Mollie, ready for you to make your own.

Each guest will receive a cake featuring vanilla and chocolate marble sponge, chocolate ganache, fresh raspberry jam, and vanilla buttercream.

We'll provide the buttercream, decorating tools, edible flowers, sprinkles, and inspiration—you bring the imagination. Enjoy a complimentary beverage while you decorate, chat, and spend a few hours slowing down and creating something beautiful (and delicious). No experience necessary. Come with a friend or come solo—this class is designed to be approachable, fun, and a little indulgent.

At the end of the afternoon, you'll leave with your finished cake and a newfound appreciation for just how much frosting is too much frosting. 🍰✨
